Walkable Chadds Ford

Village of Chadds Ford

Embark on a journey of transformation with the Walkable Chadds Ford project, set to revitalize and reconnect the heart of our beloved community. Inspired by the Village of Chadds Ford Master Plan, this ambitious endeavor will breathe new life into Route 1, spanning from Fairville Road in Pennsbury Township to Ring Road in Chadds Ford Township. Delving into the rich tapestry of our heritage, the project encompasses Creek Road, leading to the Chadds Ford Historical Society, and extends south to the Rail line crossing.

Led by dedicated consultants, the project aims to craft a design that not only enhances mobility but also fosters a renewed sense of place, community, and prosperity for local businesses. Through meticulous research and innovative design options, we strive to create a pedestrian-friendly environment that celebrates our unique identity and showcases the charm of Chadds Ford.

With a timeline as ambitious as our vision, we aim to submit comprehensive design and engineering documentation for regulatory approvals by June 2024. Advertisement of the construction contract is set for August 2024, paving the way for the PennDOT estimated Letting in September 2024. Following this, a Preconstruction Meeting and the issuance of Notice to Proceed to the contractor are scheduled for November 2024.

We would also like to note that as we move forward, we are thankful for the support in funding of 3.4 million in grants from Transportation Alternative Set-Aside (TASA),  National Scenic Byways, Delco Greenways, DCNR Community Development, Rehabilitation, and Maintenance, & DCED Greenways, Trails & Recreation programs!

Together, let us embark on this transformative journey, ensuring that Walkable Chadds Ford becomes a beacon of progress, prosperity, and pride for generations to come.
